Founded on April 3, 2002, Nicomaque (named after Aristotle’s father) brings together human, financial, and technical resources across PhD candidates and early-career researchers in Brittany to carry out major initiatives: the Docteurs & Entreprises forum, the short film festival Sciences en Cour[t]s, Pint of Science, as well as social gatherings, science outreach projects, and ongoing dialogue with local academic and institutional leadership.

Originally, six associations were affiliated with the network:

• ADOC (PhD candidates and doctors from the Matisse Doctoral School, Beaulieu campus);
• ADER (PhD candidates and doctors from Télécom Bretagne, Beaulieu campus);
• DOCAIR (PhD candidates and doctors from Agrocampus Ouest and the INRA Rennes center);
• LUCA (PhD candidates and doctors from the VAS Doctoral School, Villejean campus);
• PhDoc (PhD candidates from the EHESP doctoral network);
• UP-SET (PhD candidates and postdoctoral researchers from IRSET).
